Type Locality and Naming

Along the Jalpak ridge on the Merishkor, N. Nuratau range. A. I. Kim et al., 1966 (368, p.95; 441, p.141), in the rank of the upper Silurian. Stratotype to the north of the Chashma-Zrak spring.

Synonym: Dzhaliiskaya Suite, Джалпакская св., Jalpak Fm


Lithology and Thickness

According to data by I.A. Kim et al. (1987), - sparitic, massive, light-gray, detrital and crinoidal, less frequently stromatolite-algal limestones. Thickness 380m.

Lower contact

Contact with the underlying Chaltash Fm is conformable

Upper contact

Contact with overlying formations is tectonic.

Regional extent

South slope of the Northerrn Nuratau range within the Merishkor structure from the basin of the Kuragan stream in the east to the Say Obay in the west.
